Coming into this class I knew that we would be talking about many things where everyone has a different opinion. As a young adult I do feel like it is very important for us to have knowledge on the history of gender in sports. It is important to know how men and women are treated differently in the sports world as we as a society try to make it equal. I feel that it is very important that men and women are given the same opportunity to succeed in the sports world. Over the years there have been many criticisms that women can not compete with men and that they are not as physical and entertaining as men.

Growing up as a hockey player, I know that the U.S Women's hockey team has been very successful winning gold medals multiple times. The mens team has not been as successful and is still given more attention and more money. Even though the mens team brings in more money, the women's team should still be treated the same way because of how successful they are. One of the women on the olympic team, Hilary Knight, has broken many barriers in the hockey world and should be treated the same way as many NHL Players. Speaking of the USA Hockey team I believe the Women's soccer team should be treated the same way because they are way more successful then the mens team.

I believe that this class can also help me in my future with a career in the sports field. I can have a voice that changes the sports world forever, helping women get equal pay and opportunities in the sports world. Everyones voice can help make a difference on creating a better sports world.
