Title IX has effected everyones life if they realize it or not. Male or female it does not matter. As a kid who has played sports my entire life I can find a few ways it has affected me. Title IX has never had a bad affect on my sports career. As a ice hockey player I have played with many different players including women. When I was younger, from the ages 8-12 I always had girls on my team usually just 1 or 2. This is because girls back then did not have enough participants to create at a team so they had to join the boys team. Being so young I never really had opinions on the situation because all I wanted to do was play. I remember parents and coaches talking about girls playing with us and having mix feelings. Some felt that they should not be aloud to play because of the physicality of the game. I for one am actually thankful they played because most of the girls I played with were very good and are now playing Division 1 Hockey at their respected schools.
Another time title IX affected me was my freshman year of High School when I was on the football team and a girl in our school wanted to play. A lot of the guys on the team disliked the idea and didn't want her to be in the locker room or on the field with us. The School had to let her play because a sport like football was not offered for the women. It never really bothered me because I did not play much so I did not have opinion on it.
One of the readings said that parents just want there kids to play what there passionate about and hate to see a barrier of gender take that away from them. Looking back on how title IX affected me I can not say anything bad about it because I know parents were just pushing for there daughters to play what they were passionate about.
